Professional Profile
I have worked as a Professor and Chairman in the Department of Information & Communication Engineering at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan. I received a B.Sc. degree (with honor) in electrical engineering from the University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan, in 2000, M.S. in telecommunication engineering from NWFP University of Engineering & Technology, Peshawar, Pakistan, in 2008, and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia in January 2017.
Before joining the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, I worked as an Assistant Divisional Engineer at Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited from 2002 to 2007 and as a System Engineer with Delta Indus Systems, Pakistan, from 2000 to 2002.
My research interests lie in Signal Processing and Communications, particularly image and video processing, image compression, machine learning, image forensics, image quality assessment of distortions, enhancement and inpainting, medical image processing, wireless sensor networks and smart grids. I have published around 80 journal articles and conference proceedings in these areas. I am also a reviewer for many top-rated conferences and journals in related fields.
I am a senior member of IEEE and also an Advisor of the IEEE Signal Processing Society student chapter in UCET – The Islamia University of Bahawalpur student branch. I was also the Chair IEEE Bahawalpur Subsection for the period 2017-2024 and the co-founder of the Branch Counselor of the student branch UCET – The Islamia University of Bahawalpur from 2010 to 2012.

I have built a strong academic foundation in Electrical and Communication Engineering, shaped by diverse learning experiences and research pursuits. I earned my PhD in Electrical Engineering from a top-ranking international university, where my research focused on advanced image and video processing applications. Before that, I completed my Master’s in Telecommunication Engineering and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a major in Electronics and Communication. This educational path has equipped me with deep technical expertise and a global perspective, forming the backbone of my teaching, research, and consulting work.
