About Me

I am currently a Professor and the Chairman of the Department of Information & Communication Engineering at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Pakistan. My academic journey began with a B.Sc. degree with honors in Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan, in 2000. I then pursued an M.S. in Telecommunication Engineering from NWFP University of Engineering & Technology, Peshawar, Pakistan, in 2008, followed by a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, completed in January 2017.

Prior to my tenure at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, I held positions in industry where I gained valuable experience in telecommunications and software fields. From 2002 to 2007, I worked as an Assistant Divisional Engineer at Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited, and from 2000 to 2002, I served as a System Engineer with Delta Indus Systems, Pakistan.

My research interests are centered around Signal Processing and Communications, with a particular focus on image and video processing, image compression, machine learning, image forensics, image quality assessment, image enhancement and inpainting, medical image processing, wireless sensor networks, and smart grids. I have published approximately 80 journal articles and conference proceedings in these areas, contributing significantly to advancements in the field. Additionally, I serve as a reviewer for numerous top-rated conferences and journals.

I am honored to be a Senior Member of the IEEE, where I currently hold the position of Chair for the IEEE Bahawalpur Sub-Section in Region 10. I also serve as an Advisor for the IEEE Signal Processing Society student chapter at UCET – The Islamia University of Bahawalpur student branch. Previously, I was the Co-Founder and Branch Counselor of the student branch at UCET – The Islamia University of Bahawalpur from 2010 to 2012.
